National Geographic takes its responsibility to represent the rich diversity of our world seriously -- both in its content and in its ranks. While being a National Geographic Explorer has always been an exclusive club, today’s group of explorers comes from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures but they all have one thing in common -- extensive credentials and a passion for exploration.
So what does a twenty-first century explorer look like? In our modern world, the image of the Indiana Jones explorer doesn’t feel relevant anymore. We partnered with National Geographic to profile a few of their up-and-coming explorers who are defying stereotypes and inspiring a new generation of youth to pursue their dreams.
