Peter Hutchens is an award-winning cinematographer and director who has filmed over 100 hours of content for clients including HBO, Showtime, PBS, and National Geographic. In 2011, he won the Sundance Cinematography Award for his work on the feature documentary The Redemption of General Butt Naked.
His first independent documentary, Border Jumpers, was nominated for the 2005 International Press Club Award and was selected to be part of PBS' acclaimed Wide Angle series. Peter was a principal DP for Oprah Winfrey's international series Belief, which follows stories about faith and spirituality around the world.
Most recently, he served as Director of Photography on Showtime's critically acclaimed series The Trade, which premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. His documentary experience informs his commercial work for clients such as HSBC, Samsung, Verizon, and Honest Tea. Peter speaks Chinese and Spanish, and lives in Brooklyn with his family.
